In all areas of our provision, we would like to reinforce a few areas that have become issues this previous year, and will help you as parents/guardians understand our engagement with young people, but also our motivation.
Our centre is open to anyone [befitting age restrictions and focus]; regardless of backgrounds, faiths, cultures, ethnicity or nationality - meaning, regardless of personal views, that all children and young people show respect to every other user in the centre.
This respect will extend itself to every interaction that occurs in our centre; in the football cage, computer consoles, courtyard, coffee bar, board games or pool…We ask for every attendee to ensure that their interactions are only ever hospitable and kind [understanding that fallouts occur - but we ask for these instances to be dealt with as maturely as possible].
We take a zero tolerance approach to bullying in our centre. If anything occurs within our building, families will be contacted and made aware; depending on the severity of the incident, and response by the perpetrator/s a young person may be suspended from our centre based provision for up to a 3 week period. It is important to understand that it is our hope to work with you in support of your child, and should you receive a phone call from us; it is never made in a demeaning, shaming or accusatory way - simply that we want to make you aware of the issue and see your child to recognise the error of their behaviour, learn from it and not repeat it again.
Should your child feel in anyway uncomfortable/hurt/bullied by any of the users of our centre based provision, we would ask you to encourage them to speak to a leader in charge [Steph or James] in order to address the issue straight away. Be rest assured that we are experienced in dealing with conflict - and will always seek to resolve issues as quickly, and as positively as possible.
The organisation employees 2 members of staff [Steph and James] and is also significantly supported by a team of volunteers - please do your utmost to respect them, and to be polite, honest and kind in all interactions.
The centre has been funded/and is supported by a number of ordinary people in our community, and by some funders as and when we are successful in our funding bids. This means that every item - from the door, to the toilet roll, or the pool table to the deck of uno cards has had to fundraised for - please give the respect to the space that hundreds of young people have used over the last 26 years.
